The University og Koya and our partnerns from Hawari Galla Organizations are are discussing a strategic project to digitze the Anfal archive.

Within the framework of the continuous efforts of Koya University to document and scientific national issues, on Sunday (10/ 5/ 2026), (Asst.Prof.Dr. Halgurd Sarhang Maghdid) Dean of Research and Development Centers in Koya University, received (Mr. Hemn Goptapayi) the president of Hawari Gala Organization for the Development of Women and Children.
This meeting follows the announcement of the joint project “Digitization and Documentation of Anfal Orphans” between Koya University and Koya Martyrs and Anfal Victims Directorate. The meeting stressed the importance of documenting the stories and events of the Anfal in the Koya plain, with the aim of recognizing this human tragedy at the international level and preserving it as part of the living history of our people.
In another topic of the meeting, it was proposed that in the future, Koya University through scientific departments such as (History, Clinical Psychology, Kurdish Language, English Language, and Programming) to conduct scientific and academic research on different aspects of this issue. It was also proposed to organize scientific trips and graduation projects of the students of these departments towards field and scientific research on the stories of Anfal.
For his part, Mr. Hemn Goptapayi expressed the readiness of his organization to cooperate and support Koya University in this national project, as he has a rich archive of Anfal remnants of Koya plain. In this context, (24) resources and books related to the Anfal process as a gift to Koya University through the Deanship of Research and Development Centers of the University.
